100% Online Florida Insurance Continuing Education

By Sandra King February 4, 2026

Stay compliant with Florida CE rules and protect your license with simple, text‑based online courses you can finish from anywhere, at any time. Our Florida‑approved CE bundles are built to match state requirements by license type, experience level, and renewal cycle, so you can meet every rule in one place and get back to serving your clients.

What Florida Insurance Professionals Must Do

Florida resident major lines agents must complete state‑approved Continuing Education every 2 years, by the last day of their birth month, once they have been licensed for at least 24 months. There are no separate renewal applications or renewal fees—keeping your license active simply means finishing your required CE hours on time.

  • Major lines licenses include Life (2-14), Life & Health (2-15, 2-40), General Lines (2-20), Personal Lines (20‑44), All Lines Adjusters (6-20), and Public Adjusters (3-20).
  • Agents licensed 6 or more years need 20 total CE credits every 2‑year period.
  • Agents licensed less than 6 years need 24 total CE credits every 2‑year period.
  • Customer Service Representatives (4‑40) need 10 total CE credits every 2‑year period.

Meet Every Florida Insurance Continuing Education requirement in One Place

Florida requires a 4‑hour Law and Ethics (Law Update) course tied to at least one of your license types every 2‑year cycle. The rest of your hours—16 or 20 for most major lines licensees—can be approved elective courses in subjects that fit your day‑to‑day work.

  • Florida Insurance Continuing Education Bundles that include the required 4‑hour Law & Ethics Update for your line (General Lines, Life & Health, etc.).
  • Enough elective hours to reach your full 20‑ or 24‑hour requirement based on how long you have been licensed.
  • Options for CSR licenses that provide the 10 hours needed, including the required Law & Ethics for General Lines.
  • Special training courses for Flood, Long‑Term Care, and Annuities that meet Florida product‑specific rules while also counting toward CE.

If you hold more than one major line (for example, Life and General Lines), FLDFS still caps your total Florida Insurance Continuing Education requirement at 24 hours per cycle, so you do not need to buy extra hours you will not receive credit for.

Important Florida Rules to Know

  • You must complete all required CE by the last day of your birth month in your 2‑year cycle; there is no automatic grace period.
  • Florida insurance agents may request a Continuing Education (CE) extension for “good cause” (such as illness, accident, or an emergency) under Rule 69B-228.230(3), F.A.C.
  • Extensions must be submitted using Form DFS-H2-460 before the license renewal deadline and may not exceed 1 year.
  • Good cause means a situation outside the licensee’s control, such as a serious illness, injury, or a declared emergency.
  • Specific medical records or proof of emergency are required when you request an extension.
  • Extensions are often granted for about 90 days but cannot go beyond a total of 1 year.
  • If an extension does not apply, licensees can enter a Settlement Stipulation Agreement for a Consent Order, which usually gives 60 days to complete the CE with a $250 fine.
  • Requests must be filed with the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS).
  • If you do not complete your CE and any required stipulation steps in time, all company appointments will be canceled and you will not be allowed to conduct insurance business.
  • Florida will not award CE credit for any course you repeat within the same 2‑year period.
  • If you sign up for an OLT course or bundle you already completed in your current compliance period, we can help you exchange it for a different course now or, if you prefer, you can take it after this period ends.
  • Up to 24 extra CE credits can carry over to your next 2‑year period if you complete more than the minimum required.

Stay Compliant, Protect Your License and Income

Missing a CE deadline can lead to late fees, extra work with the Department, or even a break in your ability to write business. Enroll in your next Florida CE course or bundle today to stay compliant, avoid renewal surprises, and keep your income on track—with fast online access and flexible, self‑paced learning.
